Apologies...

Hey Everyone...

I must apologise, life has been so busy, and I have been neglecting my blog! Obviously I have upset you all with my neglect, as my last two blog posts haven't had any comments! I hope you are all still following and haven't given up on me, I am still here!

I need to learn how to catch up on blogs using my iPhone, as I never have a chance to use the laptop nowadays! Does anyone know how I can use google reader to read the blogs I follow?

I want to try to justify my absense! This week is the deadline for my clinical psychology doctorate application. So I have been spending my evenings writing a very hard application form, proof reading and making changes! I finally sent the application off on Friday, and now all I can do is wait. Last year I had one interview but unfortunately didn't get a place. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed until February-March when I will hear if I have been given a interview at any of the 4 universities I applied to.  At least it's done now, and I can relax over Christmas!

But I haven't been relaxing, I have been busy busy! Last Wednesday I met up with two lovely friends, Sian & Adele, for dinner in London. As I had been at a training that day I finished early and got some much needed Christmas shopping done. Oxford street was alight with beautiful Christmas lights...

It was lovely to catch up with them, and hopefully one of them is moving into London soon, so I will get to see her more often.

Then on Thursday I did something both strange and exciting. I had won a competition and my prize was a photoshoot with a free photograph. However, this was a photoshoot with a difference! The company - called FYEO or For Your Eyes Only, take naked or lingerie photographs. I first heard about them at various wedding fayres, as they market their photographs as great gifts for soon to be grooms.

So I travelled to their Berkshire studio, and took part in a naked photoshoot! As you may know I have pretty rubbish self-esteem and I hate my body, so it may seem a bit strange for me to do this. However, it was extremely liberating and confidence boosting. I mean, I was unbelievable scared, and embarrassed at times, but the photographer was lovely and really put me at ease.

I now have some beautiful photographs which I can cherish and will always make me feel more confident! Now I just need to choose my favourite to get for free! I would hugely recommend the experience, even if, like me, you have low self-esteem or don't like your body. The staff are amazing and it can really make a difference to how you see yourself.

Then on Friday night, it was off out to see the fiance at another gig. This time he was supporting a bigger band, and playing in a prime time slot. My friend Marian came along and after a quick curry, and too much wine, we watched the fiance play. He was fantastic (as usual) but also really relaxed, despite having a cold, and it was his best performance yet!

Saturday was special, as I went to meet two uni friends Rachel & Lucy for our Christmas get together. We all live far apart and so we planned an early Christmas meet up to get into the spirit. After lots of fuss on the London transport system, we arrived at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park...

It was so much fun and extremely Christmassy! We exchanged some Christmas gifts, and I received these beautiful presents from Rachel...

Beautiful Keep Calm Sewing Tote, Lush Christmas Pud Ballastic & 'Made with Love' Ribbon

Then we took a wander through Green Park to Buckingham Palace (to show the girls where I will soon be working) and stopped in Fortnum & Mason for to top up our Christmas cheer!

When I got home, the fiance had made me a lovely home cooked meal of handmade pizza...

I have also been busy making and buying lots of lovely Christmas decorations and gifts...

Linen Hearts From IKEA

Red & White Decorations From Tesco

Red Felt Star From IKEA

I can't show you all the gifts I have made so far, just in case their recipients are reading! But there is one I can show you...

Lavender Pouches

Lavender Pouches

I have also been busy crafting for my next craft fair THIS Saturday! I will be at the Frost Fair a Avenue House, in Finchley, hosted by the WI. I will blog all about my preparations for it tomorrow!

Today, I am off sick from work with a yucky cold, hence why I have been able to catch up on my blogging. But I am so excited to show you all my crafts for the fair on Saturday, I will make sure I blog tomorrow to tell you all about it.

Hope you all have a lovely week!

At The Farm...

Hey everyone...

Sorry I have been absent again! Things are really busy! I don't really feel like I've stopped let alone had a chance to use the fiancé's laptop to blog!

I wanted to share with you a slightly. more relaxing day we had on Sunday! The fiancé and I had my nieces for the day! We decided to take them to a local farm I had heard lots about called Willows, in London Colney.

The girls really enjoyed it, but we were a bit disappointed! Lots of the attractions were shut, but were reopening soon for Christmas! Even though it's advertised as an all year attraction, there weren't many animals around! Luckily the girls were thrilled with what they did see and we headed back early to bake some cupcakes together!

It was a lovely day and we're hopefully having them soon to stay the night! Wish us luck!

I have lots more to blog about and will hopefully have time on Sunday!

Autumn...

Just a quick post to show you all some autumnal pictures I took yesterday during a break in my crafting! The fiancé and I took advantage of the beautiful blue skies and walked to our local park! The leaves were golden and the air was crisp! I hope you like them...

This autumnal weather is lulling me into a false sense of security that Christmas is still far away, despite my head knowing better! Luckily this weekend has put me back on track with my Christmas crafting! I can't wait to show you!

Happy Happy...

Hey Everyone...

I am so sorry I have been neglecting you all again! Things have been so hectic at home, but that means I have lots to tell you about.

Firstly, the good news I mentioned in my last post! I am now able to tell you all that I have an exciting new job! It will mean a step up the pay ladder, and more responsibility. It's also an new area that I have never worked in before. If you didn't know I am an assistant psychologist, and in my new job I will be working with forensic patients, but also conducting research with the police! I can't wait to start, as half the week I will be working in central London, next to Buckingham Palace.

Yep, I'll be waving hello to the queen in the morning, after my walk through lovely green park! I am hoping I will enjoy the work and it will be fantastic experience for me as well as a new challenge.

Since I last wrote, I have also had a lovely delivery! My new IPHONE! I finally caved in and got one (with a lovely deal thanks to my lovely friend!) and am already hooked!

This is partly why I haven't blogged, as I have finally left the fiance in peace on his laptop and been using my iphone for all things internet related. However, I'm not quite skillful enough to use it to blog - yet! If you have any recommendations for apps I should download, and any advice on stopping my battery running down in less than 8 hours I would greatly appreciate it!

Thursday was also a big day! I went to try on my ACTUAL wedding dress! It came into the shop a while ago, and I decided I wanted to see it before my fitting which won't be until April! Luckily, I still loved it, as I hadn't seen it in over a year. It was so lovely to see how it looked when it fitted properly, especially the back!

Unfortunately, the moment was slightly ruined by my mum (who is rather opinionated about my tiara) who was arguing with me in front of the sales lady. I came out feeling rather awful and I still haven't really recovered. The veil is also a bit too light, meaning I have to order more samples, go back to the shop to check them, and then try to transfer my 'non-returnable' veil! Wish me luck. Luckily my dad did make me feel better! After seeing the dress for the first time he told me that when my niece sees me in it, she will say I am a princess, which brought a tear to my eye!

Last night was a big goodbye to an old work colleague who is moving home to Australia on Wednesday. We had a lovely meal out, but it was really hard to say goodbye. It's the second workmate of mine to move back abroad, and I will really miss her!

So what else has been keeping me busy!? Well today I spent the day catching up on my sewing of Christmas presents! I have finished 4 today and also used the little pegs I showed you in my last post to make a little advent calendar, which I will show you soon!

Whilst I was sewing, the fiance cut out all of our wedding invitations that we printed, and then we decorated them and now they are ALL FINISHED ready to send out in the new year! It's such a relief and we're really happy with them, especially as they are so personal to us!

We also heard from our venue what our menu choices are for the reception and in the new year we will be going for  a menu tasting to make our decisions, which is really exciting. Not long now!

More things that have kept me busy - the fiance's dad's birthday, writing my clinical application (at last - but it's still not finished), seeing friends, seeing the fiance play a gig at Proud, Camden and making stock for my next craft fair!

Here's the fiance in action...

Phew! I feel knackered just trying to remember it all!

I apologise for the word heavy post, but now we are all caught up, I promise to be better! Next time I will also show you some pictures! Promise!

They're Putting Up Reindeer...

Hey Everyone,

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend! Another Christmassy post I'm afraid... does anyone know the song referenced in my last two posts?

Anyway, yesterday I decided I needed to make a special effort to find some goodies for my Christmas Charity Shop Swap and so we went to our local high street. I found all the presents I needed for the swap (which I will show you when it's been received) but also got a little carried away and bought myself somethings...

Traditional Advent Calendar from Mr.Simms

I didn't get an advent calendar last year, as it's always been something my parent's have bought me. Well this year, the fiance treated me to this traditional beauty. I hate the modern ones, that usually have no link to Christmas at all. I'm not religious, so I shouldn't complain, but I think an Advent Calendar becomes meaningless if it is just a box of over priced, ridiculously small chocolates. At least this one will put me in a Christmassy mood and help me count down the days...
Advent Numbered Heart Pegs

As will these fantastic numbered pegs. I found them in Tiger, which is a local shop (only has a few branches in London) but has fantastic things inside, all at very reasonable prices. I describe it as the IKEA of accessories and gifts. The most expensive product is £30 and most things are much cheaper - such as these pegs - a bargain at £2. I have already planned how I am going to use them, and am starting work on it as we speak...

...And I also couldn't resist this oh so Christmassy little tealight holder - and for £1 I thought it was worth treating myself. However, I didn't stop there...

... I found this beautiful addition for my slowing growing collection of Royal Albert Old Country Roses china, when searching the charity shops for my swap. She wasn't cheap, but she was worth it (I still mean the china) at £4 - I can't wait to serve some pretty sweets or chocolates in her.

Finally, to finish in a very Christmassy manner, I wanted to show you all my Christmas decorations now they are sewn up and finished (I saw all, there are three I am personalising for gifts, and two difficult ones I have yet to tackle - but this is almost all of them). I hope you like them...

I apologise for the poor photos (I didn't take them) they really don't do them justice! If you would like to order any of these decorations, please let me know, or take a look at my folksy shop - www.folksy.com/shops/prettylittlejewels

I am running a promotion for four of these lovelies for just £10, and they can all be personalised as they are made to order!

Ooooh Christmas really is coming!

It's coming on Christmas...

Hey Everyone...

I apologise for my posts being so irregular at the moment. I hope you're still all reading? Things have been really mad at home the past couple of weeks, but hopefully things will be back to normal next week. I have some exciting news to share with you all but I can't just yet...

In the meantime I wanted to show you how I spent my Sunday. I had a whole day with no specific plans, and as part of my lovely relaxing weekend I decided I wanted to do some sewing. So...

I made lots of lovely Christmas decorations! You may notice that they are all not finished! I need to sew up the gaps, and iron down the folds, but otherwise they are done...

I am so pleased with them. I really love them, and it really makes me proud to know that the decorations on my tree this year will be handmade!

Some of the decorations will be for our tree, some are for gifts for my friends and family, and some will be appearing at the Frost Fair craft fair on the 3rd December in East Finchley...

Which reminds me... I need to get crafting. I am hugely behind on my nicely made plans for making Christmas presents for my friends and family, and I have a very important application to complete, so things will still be busy for me this month! I need to knuckle down and use my evenings to get crafting!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend. I promise to catch up with all your blogs soon, I have been so busy I haven't had a chance to catch up with you all, which I hate, so I will make an effort soon!
