What I Made In April...

Hey Everyone...

I must apologise again that I have been missing from my blog! With just 26 days to go until the wedding, things have been non-stop, and I don't think I will be back to full time blogging until after the honeymoon! I will try and post as much as I can, but I will have to catch up on all your lovely blogs after the big day! I hope you understand!

However, I don't want April to go past without me sharing the things I have made this month. As always anything that is a new craft to me will have a little *new* next to it! I hope you like them all...

Liberty Cross Stitch - My First Ever *new*

Floral Cross Stitch

Crown Cross Stitch
Tea Time Cross Stitch

Monogram Cushion - My first patchwork *new*
Monogram Cushion
Giraffe Card *new*

And I also fitted in some baking too...

Easter Layer Cake

With Pastel Rainbow Sponge
Chocolate Easter Cupcakes

Hand Decorated Strawberry Shortcake Cake *new*

So that's it for another month! I wish I had had more time to craft but the Strawberry Shortcake cake was a particularly challenging piece of baking, and the cross stitch is now a new skill that I am addicted to! I have even started some more! I can't wait to make a big piece!

I hope you're all well, I will hopefully catch up with you all soon!

Dressing Up...

Hey Everyone...

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend so far! Today has been a lovely day! Even the promised rain has held off...

I went for my final fitting for my wedding dress! It was perfect, beautiful, amazing and I felt so lovely in it! It just needs a loop putting in, so unfortunately I couldn't bring it home today, and instead I will be picking it up the weekend before the wedding!

Of course I can't show you any photos yet, but believe me I will have plenty to show you after the wedding! This afternoon we have been making up our favours and they are almost finished! No hints I'm afraid, you'll have to wait and see - only 5 weeks to wait!

Wow 5 weeks! I can't quite believe it! It still feels like it will never happen, as we've been waiting so long. But my hen do is in two weeks and then it's full steam ahead until the wedding day! I just can't wait!

Anyway as I can't show you anything wedding related, I have some other pretty things to show you... I treated myself to all these lovelies today...

Pretty Pudding Canvas For The Kitchen

Pretty Floral Tea Towel

Patriotic Crown Tea Towel
Lovely London Tea Towel

Drink Up Tea Towel

Eat Cupcakes Tea Towel
At last I found some gorgeous tea towels that didn't cost the earth! And I can throw away all our boring ones! These pictures make me smile so much! I love them all - how sad is that?

I wish our kitchen looked better! It always looks a mess and I would love it to look more homely! Maybe these will help!

Tomorrow we're off to visit a local National Trust property for their free weekend, and I have some more crafting to do! Can't wait to share it with you! Have a lovely weekend!

Birthday Girl...

Hey Everyone...

Wow it's been a busy week! I am so sorry I have been so sparse in my blogging! Things have been so hectic what with the wedding being only..... 5 weeks away! I cannot believe it! Anyway that's for another time!

Today I wanted to blog about a special cake I made for a very special 6 year old! My lovely eldest niece turned 6 last week, and to celebrate we all went to London Zoo on Sunday!

Although the weather wasn't great, my two nieces and nephew had a great time seeing all the animals!

My sister asked me to make her a special cake... her favourite... Strawberry shortcake!

It was the first time I had used icing to make shapes without cutters, so I was rather nervous. The fiance printed out a template for me and I got going!

It was actually really fun - I loved seeing the character come together...

I used pipe-able icing for the details and also piped my first ever edging - I think it looks rather professional!

I used some alphabet cutters from the new 'Cake Decorating' magazine, which my lovely father-in-law to be has subscribed me to as a belated birthday present. And I used some strawberry flavoured buttons which my sister-in-law to be gave me for Christmas! I even used my homemade jam from last year to fill the middle of the home baked cake!

My niece loved her cake - and she also loved the monogrammed cushion I made for her! I really love making homemade gifts for the people I love!

P.S. Tomorrow is a big day! I go for my final wedding dress fitting and if it doesn't need any altering I get to take it home! Eeeeeeee!

P.P.S I have TWO giveaways at the moment - get in quick!

Hey Everyone...

Wow it has been over a week since I last blogged! I have missed it and I am sorry for such a long break. Things have just been so busy! So very belatedly I am blogging about my lovely long Easter weekend...

My Easter baking started early...

Easter Cupcakes for work

Then our perfect weekend started on Friday, when we had a lovely lie and then swapped Easter gifts...

Great minds think alike - we both pulled out Fortnum & Mason bags on Friday morning!

Fortnum & Mason Chocolate Eggs for me!

Fortnum & Mason Marzipan Fruits for the fiance!

Then we headed into London! We had some important photographs to take for the wedding (it's a secret) and then we headed off for some fun...

I love London...

And it was a beautiful sunny day!

... sneak peak of what we got up to!

Then we headed to the beautiful Liberty, where the fiance had promised to take me for tea...

We both had the soup for lunch, followed by these yummy macaroons!

There were so many beautiful things I wanted to buy. Especially lots of lovely Royal Albert china!
The fiance was lovely and treated me to a little cross stitch kit! I was so excited about it, I came home and started it straight away... and didn't stop!

My first EVER cross stitch! I am so proud! I love it sooo much! It is now hanging on our bathroom wall...

After a busy day on Friday, Saturday was a day of baking...

And making eggy packages for my nieces...

And preparing tea for my mum & dad's visit...

Who came bearing gifts...

... of Golden Bunnies!
Before cutting the cake...

Then it was time to relax again on Sunday! We got up early for a special day trip to visit Darwin's house - Down Hall, in South London...

It is a beautiful house, in a lovely tranquil village. The gardens are lovely and planted how they would have been in Darwin's day!

The house is full of original furniture, with the whole bottom floor restored to it's glory of Darwin's day. The upstairs is full of fascinating displays and information on his life's work and all it's influence.

We walked the famous sand walk, where Darwin would walk the circular path five times, three times a day to think, kicking a flint after each circuit to count them! Apparently his children loved to play tricks and move them so he would walk around again and again!

After our walk, we stopped for tea and sandwiches and cake in the lovely little tea room!

We love our visit so much, we have decided to use our Tesco vouchers to buy a membership to the English Heritage so we can visit again and again! It is such an inspiring place and he was such an inspiring man!

And on our last day we took it easy. The rain meant no car boot shopping, so I settled down to some crafting.

I made a special cushion for my niece's birthday (which was yesterday - I can't believe she is 6 already!)

Then I had to keep cross stitching! I was hooked!

I made this pretty floral design using a lovely kit I received in my swap from Cider With Sophie!

And then I used a design from my lovely cross stitch magazine to make this pretty little design ready for a special make...

So as you can see, it was a lovely long weekend, full of lovely things! I was so sad it was all over and back to reality!

But I have another lovely weekend ahead of me, celebrating my niece's birthday!

I hope you all had a lovely Easter, and have a lovely weekend ahead of you too!

Love Jewel xXx

P.S. I am one follower away from the big 100 and the reveal of a giveaway!
