A Weekend With A Best Friend...

Hey Everyone...

Oh am I glad it's Friday! Even though it was only a 4 day week I feel like it has been much longer than usual and I am so glad it's the weekend at last. As you may have read tomorrow isn't quite a day off as I will be selling at a craft fair - but I have my fingers crossed that it will go well. On Sunday I have an exciting day out planned but I will tell you all about that next week.

For now I am reminiscing about a lovely weekend I had with my friend Lucy. Lucy lives far away in Solihull and so I don't see her very often. But for her birthday I bought her an afternoon tea and she kindly invited me to share it for her. I also got to see her new flat, which was very exciting.

We headed off to the beautiful Coombe Abbey for our afternoon tea...

It was such a gorgeous hotel, set in a big beautiful park, which you are free to roam!

The hotel was stunning, very gothic on the inspired by it's history as an abbey...

It's not a celebration without champagne!

Our tea was served in the beautiful greenhouse!

And it was delicious!

The only problem was that it was so hot - it was too hot to drink tea!

The rest of the weekend was spent shopping! Ikea, Primarni and many more! I was on the hunt for some new clothes to make me feel better and Lucy was so lovely and supportive - helping me find things to make me feel good! I plan to share my purchases with you in a blog soon!

And Lucy was a very good host! Yummy crumpets for breakfast - and tea in a Cath mug...

Plus my very own little pot of jam! She knows me so well!

All The Fun of The Craft Fair...

Hey Everyone...

Well it sure does feel good to be back! I was finally able to sit down last night and read some blogs and leave some comments - I miss it a lot and hopefully I will continue to make time. It was really nice to come home today knowing I would be able to blog!

Things are still a little out of order but I am slowly getting through the backlog of blogs so that I can be up to date!

Today's feels so old it almost doesn't seem worth blogging about - but I don't want to forget these things! Back in July (can you remember that long ago) I went back to a local craft fair to sell some wares.

It was soon after the wedding so crafting had been at a minimum but I had lots of pretty china and decorations to sell (despite my reluctance to part with them)...

This was The Vintage Tea Party & Gift Fair which is held every first Saturday of the month at The Boogaloo pub in Highgate! It's a lovely little venue, where they sell gorgeous homemade cakes, and the market is starting to find it's feet with a great selection of sellers...

These were particularly popular...

And I made some little crochet hair slides for the first time...

My vintage books from the wedding were snapped up quickly...

And as always I had lots of orders for scrabble cufflinks - always a great seller!

The piles of vintage china were also a hit!

And I had some very happy customers, who were very pleased with their hand delivered orders! Such a nice feeling to get positive feedback!

This month I am at it again and will have a stall on the 1st September (THIS SATURDAY!) at The Vintage Tea Party & Gift Fair at The Boogaloo.

I have lots more beautiful china, the necklaces and some new ric rac rose hair slides, plus I am hopeful for some more scrabble orders!

If you would like to see anymore of my makes please have a look at my facebook page (It's there on the right hand sidebar) or at my Folksy!

New Door To A New Life...

Hey Everyone...

I hope you are all well! I am sorry I have been so quiet, things have been rather manic since the wedding, and I haven't really found a new routine! Blogging has kind of been lost and forgotten. But as you may have seen I now have the means to make blogging easier - I finally have a laptop of my own again!

A few months ago my poor old laptop gave up the ghost and as we were saving for a wedding, I just couldn't afford a new one. I had to use The Husband's laptop to blog, and I would always feel bad sitting on it for ages when I knew he wanted to use it. But now - that's a thing of the past and I am going to make a big effort to get back on track.

Today I wanted to show you a little tada!

Most couples after they get married move into a new house (or at least traditionally they did). Well we already had our little flat, so to make it feel like new we decided to make over our front door.

Before it was a worn out horrible green (green is my least favourite colour) with nasty brass fittings...

I had to take a sneaky picture of our neighbours door as a before!

We decided (after looking at many a door) to paint ours a classy grey and replace the fittings with shiny silver new ones...

A new door for a newly married couple...

Back In Action...

Hey Everyone...

Just a note to say that I am FINALLY back in action! As of yesterday I have a laptop again and will no longer need to pester The Husband to use his to write my blog posts.

As I have been saying for months - I still have lots to post about a big backlog of things to tell you all about, but hopefully now I can get through them quickly! I really hope you're all still out there! Boy have I missed blogging!

My new aid to blogging!
Speak soon!

The Torch Relay...

Hey Everyone...

I know this is very belated (as a lot of my posts are recently) but time has just been getting away from me! I have so much to blog about - but this post means a lot!

Back before the Olympics even began (can you believe it is over already?) the torch relay came to Finchley! We of course wanted to see it, but we had an extra special reason!

We took the afternoon off work, the sun was shining, and we got into the spirit of things with our flags and Coca-Cola drums...

And then the torch bearer arrived! Guess what? Our torch bearer was our good friend and best man Nick Tiller...

One of his friends had nominated him, as he is an amazing multi marathon runner, triathlete and iron man, raising lots of money for various causes! Here he is with my husband and his other friend...

His latest run was the Marathon Des Sables - a seven day multi marathon through the Sahara Desert - raising lots of money for a children's charity!

It was such a great moment to see the 'kiss' of the torch! Nick and the young torch bearer before him, played a game a thumb war as they handed over!

And off he went...

Of course he ran very fast - I barely managed to keep up to take pictures! The moment was over far too soon - but it really was a special moment, we were very proud of him, and of course  little jealous that he got to meet Boris Johnson & Rupert Grint - lol!

The Olympics...

Hey Everyone...

Whilst Olympics fever is still gripping the nation (wooo 22 golds and counting) I wanted to share with you our little taste of the games!

We applied for tickets in the first round - only for the opening ceremony and the athletics 100m final. Funnily enough we didn't get any tickets! Then when they released the second round of tickets, we decided we really wanted to be part of the action and so got our hands on some Olympic park tickets for the bargain price of £10 each.

What with the wedding and everything else, our trip to the Olympics went out of our minds for a while, but with the opening ceremony, we became really excited. Our tickets were for the first day of the games - Saturday 28th July!

We packed our back pack full of goodies for lunch and attached our supporters badge...

I adorned myself with a Cath Kidston temporary tattoo for the occasion...

And we set off for the Olympic park...

We took the overground from Kentish Town West, which was nice and empty and got us there in no time...

We were through security in a flash and straight into the Olympic park...

It was a fantastic atmosphere even at 9.30am in the morning, but we were surprised by how quiet and empty the park was!

The park looked fantastic - the venues looked stunning!

And the landscaping around the park was fantastic!

There was so much to see and do - including lots of art installations...

...beautiful scenery along the Lee Valley River

...And of course the big screen, where we set up camp for the day...

Everything was surprisingly well organised - we didn't have to queue for anything!!

The sun came out and we ate our picnic in front of the big screen...

I fell in love with the mascot Wenlock...

...We sunbathed whilst watching all the action, cheering along, and getting swept away by the atmosphere...

....I even got sunburnt - just one leg mind!

Oh and I got to meet the REAL Wenlock...

... I was so excited I queued up with all the children!

The sponsors also had interactive experiences - such as photos from samsung, coca cola and BP!

We even got to hold a real Olympic torch...

It was such a great day we went home and immediately looked for more tickets - unfortunately most of those left were out of our price range - so we decided to support the Paralympics and bought some tickets for the athletics in the Olympic stadium! I can't wait!

And after all that excitement - Wenlock & I were tuckered out...
