Pottery Painting & Portobello Road & Pretty Things...

Hey Everyone...

I hope you're all having a good week. Mine has been hectic as always - I never seem to have any time anymore - that's why I haven't had a chance to read all your lovely blogs! I am hoping I will be back on an even kiel soon and can back into blogging properly...

For now my next few posts will be a little out of order, but I want can't wait to share some of them so I hope you don't mind.

Today is all about a fabulous weekend I had two weeks ago! It was time for another bloggy meet up! Our first had felt so long ago and we had lots of catching up to do. The three Gemmas and I decided to go pottery painting in a little shop I knew just up the road from me in Barnet...

I had driven past in many times, but never stepped inside...

There was so much to choose from, we took a long time deciding what to paint...

Two of the Gemmas decided on tea pots, and I wanted one too - but I texted the husband for advice and he categorically said no!

So I went for a heart shaped plate instead...

So we sat down to paint...

We had so much to talk about, but we all got rather engrossed in our painting, it was deathy quiet at points as we all concentrated...

Here was my project...

At first I was planning to copy an Emma Bridgewater pattern - but after some inspiration from the others I decided on some bunting...

With polka dots...

On both sides...

Gem's tea pot was covered in cute crosses and hearts...

Gem's teapot was the inspiration for my bunting, with pretty little flowers and dots too...

And Gem's gorgeous plate was polka dotty too...

I bet your confused with all the Gemmas! Feel sorry for me! Everytime I tried to talk to one of them they all turned around lol!

After concentrating hard on our painting we had to relax with some retail therapy! I found this gorgeous strawberry shoes for a bargain price and couldn't resist!

And then something amazing happened! We headed into a vintage shop, where I had found some Royal Albert a while ago and I spotted this beauty...

Oh how I had wanted one of these gorgeous dressing tables for so long! I had been searching on ebay for months, but never quite finding the right one! I had to have it and after a few frantic phone calls to the husband and some bartering - this beautiful thing was ours!

We brought it home the following Wednesday and I didn't wait to put all my pretty bits on it...

It's still not quite there - I have some tweaking to do - which I will have to show you soon!

After such a fantastic day - Sunday was just as lovely. I met up with a work friend for a day of browsing at Portobello Road Market...

I wanted to buy all this beautiful china - piles and piles of it! I was very good and restrained myself!

It was lovely strolling along the streets - despite the market not being open - the sun was out and we had a drink and some dinner - getting to know each other better!

This was my first real trip to Portobello Road and I can't wait to go back!

Oh and I bet your wondering what happened with my pottery painting? Well a week later I went to pick it up! What do you think?

I really love it - although I think I almost prefer the reverse...

And the reason I couldn't paint a teapot - well this little beauty was on it's way to me...

After much hinting the husband had bought me this stunning Emma Bridgewater tea pot in the sale to add to my growing collection, as a special gift for our two months of marriage!

Isn't he lovely?!
I really am spoilt!

Love Jewel xXx

  1. Thats one great weekend. The Bridgewater factory is near to me and seems very popular. They have done such a lot to put Stoke back up there as the place for pottery. It was in the paper how they were selling loads of mugs in Starbucks, they have been very popular.

  7. While pottery painting looks like fun, I'm not sure I'm creative enough for that! You obviously don't have that problem as your heart shaped plate is lovely. Good job!

You did find a treasure there in that dressing table, it's fabulous! And it looks lovely with your mirror and bits on it. Having a bit of dressing table envy here!
