Birthday Gifts (Part One)...

Hey Everyone...

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and your week has been good so far! As promised I wanted to blog about my weekend! It was full of early birthday celebrations and I had such a lovely time.

On Saturday I saw an old school friend. We went out for a lovely dinner and a few drinks. It was great to catch up and she was very naughty and spoilt me rotten! She bought me the most beautiful mug known to man...

A personalised Emma Bridgewater Starry Skies Mug!

Can you believe it?

It is my first ever piece of Emma Bridgewater china - I have been lusting after her beautiful collections for years, and now I have my very own personalised piece! Thank you Marian! You don't understand how unbelieveably happy this beauty makes me!

She also bought me this beautiful double oven glove - very Cath Kidston! And these beautful cupcakes wrappers! Both of which are perfect for all my baking!

Then on Sunday I headed over to my parent's house for the day! We also went out for a lovely meal with my sister and her family. After lunch I was treated to some fantastic presents...

The perfect way to exercise!

Time for a Harry Potter marathon - just need 19 hours straight!

A beautiful book, full of lovely projects from my brother! Can't wait to get started!

A belated Christmas present from my sister - I'm writing in all our definates as a momento book!

Glittery silver ink for my card making!

A gorgeous thick snuggly chunky knit throw! I love curling up in this!

A stunning wire cotton reel rack from my sister! Full of cotton reels now and waiting to go up on the wall somewhere!!!

See I told you I was spoilt! I was even treated to lunch, and then a yummy chocolate birthday cake afterwards with a big '6' sparkler on top! Yes you heard right! I am 6 tomorrow! Yay!

Then when I got home after an eventful weekend, the fiance had brought me back some little treats from his weekend away...

Chocolate from Chatsworth - which I MUST visit! And an original Bakewell Tart from Bakewell!

Isn't he sweet!?

As the name suggests this is just part one of my birthday treats as it isn't even my birthday yet! Tomorrow is my ACTUAL birthday! I'm sure you're wondering why I say 'actual' but usually I don't have a birthday!

Every year I have to celebrate on the 28th - feeling like a bit of a fraud! This year I actually get a 29th and as it only comes every 4 years I like to make a big deal of it!

Tomorrow I have the most amazing present from the fiance! I managed to give the game away cos I'm silly so I already know about it - but I will leave you all in suspense!

My Own Oscar...

Hey Everyone...

A second little blog tonight as I have soooo much to blog about! This is just a quick one to say a very big thank you to two lovely bloggers who have given me awards...

The lovely Justine from Emma Bear Forever has given me the Liebster Blog award...

And the lovely Rae from Felt By Rae has given me the Versatile Blogger award...

Thank you sooo much ladies! It really means to much to me to get these awards! Can you believe I have had both of them already this month! It's lovely to feel so popular! Which reminds me, I must say a big THANK YOU to all my new followers! I hope you'll enjoy my blog!

Oh and I was also tagged by the lovely Gem from Miss Magpie's Musings! I have never been tagged before! Luckily Gem gave me the instructions...

1) You must post 11 random things about yourself;

2) Answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post;

3) Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer;

4) Go to their blog and tell them you've tagged them;

5) No stuff about 'you're tagged if you're reading this' - legitimately tag people.

Ok so... Eleven random things...

1. I MUST take the tea bag out of my cup of tea before putting in the milk - otherwise it tastes too much like tea - yep I said it - tea bags make the milk taste like tea (ok I am strange, I get it!)

2. I have a rather big fear of ice skating - I used to ice skate as a child, but I stopped and now I'm too scared as I think I am going to fall over and someone is going to skate over my hand and cut it off (apparently this is a more common fear than one might think!)

3. I hit caps lock on the keyboard every time I want a capital letter instead of 'shift'. This means I am doubling the time it takes me to type a capital letter, but I don't care! I type fast, so it works!

4. According to the fiance, my trousers are always one leg in and one leg out when I put them in the wash! I have no idea how or why this happens!

5. I talk in my sleep (again the fiance tells me so) and I answer back to questions! Generally though I don't make much sense! My most infamous speech was something about penguins!

6. I once composed a rap called 'Huggle Time' based on the classic 'U Can't Touch This' - my version was far better!

7. I call my elbow 'bobo'.

8. And I call a hot water bottle a 'hottle'.

9. I have to drink a lot of water when eating - I don't really know why but I think I would choke if I didn't! My mother thinks it's weird to drink and eat at the same time!

10. My soft toys (yes I have soft toys) all have names that begin in 'schm...' For example... Schmudding, schmuzzle, schmimp, schmuli!

11. We call our cat Lasagna a lot, because it rhymes with Anya. I don't think she notices the difference.

Ok and now the questions that Gem posted for me...

1. Favourite flavour of ice cream?
Chocolate Fudge Brownie - Ben and Jerry Stylee

2.What is you most beloved accessory?
My beautiful Tiffany diamond engagement ring

3. If you were a cartoon character, who would you be and why?
Jessica Rabbit - cos she's sexy!

4.What is your first memory?
I'm not sure - most of my earliest memories are actually from home videos! The earliest one I remember that is definately not on video, is sneaking downstairs at night into the garden to look at the moon for my homework because I had forgotten.

5.What is your favourite website?
Blogger - Well blogs in general!

6.If you could go on holiday/vacation tomorrow where would you go?
Florida - Disneyworld!

7. What is your favourite time of year?
I used to say Autumn, but I am being more drawn to Winter too

8.What was the last thing that made you jump out of your skin?
A door slamming at work

9. Where is your favourite place in the whole world?

10. Bread or potatoes?

11.If you could do it all again would you?
Yes, but I'd relax more!

The eleven questions I would like to ask are:

1. What is your favourite animal and why?
2. If you could have a super power what would it be?
3. If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?
4. What is your favourite book?
5. Why do you blog?
6. Whose blog would you love to read?
7. What last made you cry?
8. What is the first thing you do when you walk in the door?
9. What is the last thing you do before going to sleep?
10. Where would you love to live?
11. If you could change one thing in your life what would it be?

And the people I would like to tag are...

Gem's Country Life Dream

Lucy Moo

Miss Tea

The Krafty Cupcake

Tea Cups & Bunting

Little Gem's Diary

Cider With Sophie

Sew Ray Me

Phew! I do hope that hasn't bored you to death! And I hope everyone doesn't mind being tagged! I can't wait to hear your answers!

Just before I head of to bed I just wanted to show you a couple of little treats I bought myself...

Pretty Little Butterfly Stamp & Big Thick Knitting Needles

And after much encouragement from some lovely blog ladies - the latest cross stitcher magazine!

I WILL learn to cross stitch and I WILL make that beautiful Emma Bridgewater cushion!

I am in love - I want to make every project in the magazine!

Oh dear! Another obsession!

Little Aprons...

Hey Everyone...
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Boy did my speed past! I knew it would. It was a really lovely weekend I will blog about it soon! But first I just had to show you a little something I crafted for a special gift.
Yesterday was a friend's birthday and I was inspired by a little tutorial in an old issue of Mollie Makes. You may remembers AGES ago I was given some lovely old fabric, tablecloths and the like by a kind freecycler. They had some beautiful cross stitch and embroidery on them, but they also had a few holes and tears etc...
So I decided to use the tutorial to put these lovely things to good use, and made my friend a little pinny apron!

I added some vintage lace (that my lovely mum gave to me from her mother) for the bottom trim, and raided my ribbon stash to add to cover a few little holes. Then I added a panel of pretty pink gingham for the waist band and tie.

I used an old square tablecloth with some lovely flowery cross stitch! I didn't stick exactlty to the tutorial! I didn't gather the top, and I made the waist band and tie slightly differently - but I still think it looks great - although looks better once it was ironed lol...

I think my friend liked it! I am always a little worried that others won't see the beauty in recycled and vintage fabrics and think I am just giving them some old tat - but as I made it into a little apron I think she liked that it was handmade! Happy Birthday Shona!

Luckily the tablecloth was big enough to cut in half, and I had enough left over to make myself one! I almost didn't - but remember what I said that all my crafting ends up given as presents or sold, so I resolved to treat myself! I love the fact that it has a vintage lace trim with a history from my grandmother who I never knew! I wonder what she'd think of it?

I had run out of pretty pink gingham but I think I love this floral pattern just as much!

What have you recycled lately?

Egg Obsessed...

Hey Everyone...

Happy Weekend! Oh I am so happy it is here! However, I know it will go in a flash as I have lots going on! This evening I am off out for an early birthday celebration with a friend and tomorrow is another birthday celebration with my family!

But before I go MIA for the weekend I wanted to show you some photos I took on Thursday! If you didn't know I work in central London on Thursdays! It really is the highlight of my week! I love being in the city!

This week was extra special as on my short walk from Green Park tube station to Buckingham Palace, I saw something a little different in the park... HUGE EGGS!

Egg One - Green Park

Turns out there are 200 eggs around the city in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee! They will only be there for the 40 days and 40 nights of lent! And the challenge is to 'collect' them all!

Well I love a good challenge! So I started in earnest on Thursday!

Egg Two - Green Park

I saw 4 in Green Park alone - although I didn't get close enough to one to photograph it - I am planning to catch it next Thursday!

Egg Three - Green Park
Then after work, walking to Oxford Street, I found another four in Berkley Square...

Egg Four - Berkley Square

Egg Five - Berkley Square

Egg Six - Berkley Square

Egg Seven - Berkley Square
Then as I walked towards Regent's Street I found a few more...

Egg Eight

Egg Nine

Egg Ten
This is my favourite so far! Covered in pretty white flowers! You can also bid on the eggs - but this one was already up to £300 - out of my price range.

Egg Eleven
Each egg was designed by a different person, and you can 'scan' yourself in using your iPhone and 'check in' to prove that you've seen each egg. You're also encouraged to text in a 'key word' at each egg for a chance to win a £100,000 golden faberge egg! Although at 25p a text that would be £50 if you did the lot (although some of the money does go to charity).

I know lots of people are going hardcore egg hunting, and I would love to do that! If I have a free day before the end of the 40 days I might just have to give it a go, but in the meantime I will use my Thursdays to try and spot as many as I can! I will of course keep you updated on my progress!

I'm a little egg obsessed! Silly me, I tend to get easily obsessed!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
