Sick Day...

Hey Everyone...

Two blogs today to make up for the long weekend of no blogs!

I too, like a lot of people, am having trouble posting comments on blogs! I keep trying but it keeps making me log in, but not logging me in! Scarlett I have tried to respond to your comment so we can swap addresses for the swap but I can't :( I'll try again tomorrow!

Well I just thought I'd post a picture of a lovely belated birthday present I received from my friend Shona over the weekend...

A beautiful Deco money bank! I don't have a money box, and love the Deco range so it's perfect! I'm chuffed!

Today I have been stuck at home off work with a horrible cold and icky tummy. I was feeling a little better during the day but now that it's getting late again I feel like death. I did manage something a little productive though...

The start of two felt brooches - I randomly decided to make! I need some brooch backs and have just ordered them from ebay. When they arrive I can add the back pieces and do running stitch all around the edges of both! Do you think I should use orange thread (rather than more red) for the running stitch on the left hand one? If so I need to get that too!

I'm hoping to sell them on Folksy once they are attached to a nice piece of card. How much do you think I can charge?

Hope you like them?

What A Weekend...

Hey Everyone,

Hope you all had a fantastic weekend! Mine was extremely busy. Off to Pompey (Portsmouth) on Saturday for a nice lunch and then out for a night with my friend Lucy for her birthday. Then a quick pit stop at my mum's (I have lots to show show you from her's but I will save that for another day, another post) before straight to another friend's, Sian, for a night out for her birthday. Then a BBQ yesterday at her's with lots of yummy food! We didn't get home until 8pm last night.

It was a fantastic weekend - and so nice to see all my different friends... I don't get to see them that often as I'm the only one in London! Thank you everyone!

But guess what... I'm now ill - horrible cold and sore throart, plus an icky tummy! So I'm resting up at home (and sneakly updating my blog if I feel up to it).

At the second night out I was very worse for wear and wrote this facebook status -
Is out,drinki,g for,tbe forst time,in ~3-! x

Can you guess what I was trying to say, lol?

Anyway, I wanted to finally show you all the secret projects I have been working on for Lucy's birthday but couldn't show you!

The first was a pink elephant cushion - applique'd by hand, with little button eyes...

Only the second ever cushion I have made! I loved making it! I was very proud of myself for managing all the hand stitching around the elephants. It was time consuming but worth it! I think Lucy liked it very much!

I even made a little gift tag using buttons, lace and pearl string! I'd love to sell these in my Folksy shop in little packs of 4 or 5. What do you think? How much should I charge!?

I also made her a simple card to hold a the postcard I bought in Portsmouth, which was perfect for Lucy's birthday card. Back at university a whole group of us sung this song while sat on the seafront - there's even a video of us doing it - and it brings back lovely memories of university.

And I also made her some birthday cupcakes, using royal icing...

The cupcakes were rose flavoured (although you couldn't taste this much) and very light and fluffy.

I loved working with the royal icing, especially making the little hearts and would love to do a class to teach me how to make roses!

I was again very proud as it was my first time using royal icing on cupcakes!

There were so many I had to use a mountain of tins to transport them to Portsmouth...

For my friend Sian I made a classic victoria sponge and got lots of lovely compliments on how light and yummy it was...

Photo skillfully taken by Miss Ward

Whilst in Portsmouth I had to quickly pop into the Cath Kidston outlet shop! Can you believe I couldn't find anything that I REALLLY wanted - most of the patterns were colours I didn't prefer and I didn't want to get something for the sake of it.

But I did get this sugar pot to match the milk jug I found in Homesense!

(Sorry about the bad quality phone pictures of these - my camera has broken from all the pictures taken at the weekend and won't focus and is blurry all the time! I've tried changing all the different settings but the fiance thinks the lense is getting stuck - anyone know how we can fix it!?)

I have lots more to blog about but I will spread them out across the week! Have a lovely week everyone... I'm off to get some rest!

What A Day...

Hi Everyone...

Boy am I glad it's the weekend! I was dreading today as I knew it was going to be a busy day at work, although I didn't realise quite how busy. 9 hours later (I should only work 9-5) without a real lunch break and I'm shattered! Plus my day isn't over, I need to pack and prepare for the long weekend...

Tomorrow I'm off to Portsmouth (yes again!) for my good friend Lucy's birthday! A BBQ (hopefully) on the common during the day and then a night out at the Gunwharf Quays, staying overnight. Then on Sunday stopping at my mum's on the way home before going to another good friend Sian's for her birthday night out, staying over, with another BBQ on Monday!

So I need to pack lots of different outfits, veggie food for the BBQs and their all important presents!

Plus I need to finish a secret project tonight too! Phew, I'm tired just typing about it!

So as I need to get on with my to do list tonight, I thought I'd share with you the bargains I bought on our anniversary mini break!

I love how the big blue makes my bath look like a huge ocean - it's so relaxing! I haven't tried the mango one yet, but I'll let you know all about it! Does anyone else love Lush? I should blog about the hundreds of lush products I own - all fantastic gifts!

Whittards Vanilla Tea - Reduced to £1.75

Mmmm.... I love this tea! I happened upon it and loved the smell, and it tastes great too!

These little things make me smile and didn't cost much at all! In fact the fiance paid for the top three!

Well I'm off to get packing, have a lovely evening and long weekend everyone. I'll have a bumper blog on Tuesday for you!

One year today, the fiance and I will be getting married!

Yes. It's official! The registrar is all booked for 1.30pm on Saturday 26th May 2012!

Wow, feels very real now! So exciting! I can't stop smiling!

I'm just hoping all the rain today won't happen this time next year!

I thought I'd take the opportunity to show you the lovely gifts the fiance got me for our 5th anniversary...

A beautiful union jack cushion I had been eyeing up  for a while, and...

A beautiful three paned dressing table mirror! I have wanted one for absolutely ages! And it is stunning! Now all I need is a vintage dressing table to put it on!

I think it looks fantastic in our little bedroom! I love it so much!

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside...

Click on me for a bigger image!

See.... There I am...

Half A Decade...

Hey Everyone,

Wow, feels like forever since I blogged and I have so much to talk about I don't know where to start!

Well Sunday was mine and the fiance's 5th anniversary! I surprised him with a three day mini-break to Bournemouth, staying in a lovely hotel called The Royal Bath.

He surprised me with a fantastic union jack cushion and a beautiful three panel dressing table mirror I had wanted for literally years (he obviously listens to my ooohs and ahhs when we window shop!) He also treated us to a luscious bottle of Rose MOET - how classy!

So Sunday morning we headed off to Bournemouth. I didn't quite know what to expect from the hotel but was hoping it would be nice! We we're pleasantly surprised. It was beautiful, classic and classy. We had a lovely room....

...with a fantastic view of the sea beyond...

On the first day (our anniversary) we enjoyed a picnic I'd packed in the park, despite the questionable weather (wind and clouds) we braved the beach for a quick play!

We spent a lot of time in the hotel, using the spa facilities and enjoying afternoon tea as the wind was unbelievable.

On Monday, we braved the bracing winds (after a morning of swimming, steaming and jacuzzi...ing?) and walked from the Bournemouth pier all the way to Boscombe pier along the beach. I particularly enjoyed the beautifully colourful beach huts! I decided we'll buy a pink one one day!

Then we walked back along the cliffside - getting buffeted. By the time we were back it was time for lunch but we decided on a lovely afternoon tea...

We of course had a chippy tea.

Then yesterday the wind died down and we spent the morning on the beach (after another swim and jacuzzi)

Stupidly we both got a little burnt. Then we headed home - very sad it was all over.

For once we both relaxed, I read and just sat thinking of nothing but the beautiful blue skies and the sounds of the ocean.

Me Relaxing!

Now were back to reality (lots of washing to do...) and tomorrow back to the grind.

Although, another beautiful bloomed rose was waiting for me...

We have some lovely memories to last us until next year (when our anniversary will be a quick celebration 4 days before our big day!)

Oh and some stolen toiletries to remind us lol...

(I can't be the only one who does this surely!? I love to set them out in my bathroom for 'guests')

Also, guess what I found? A little ring hidden in the sand on the beach....

...And a collection of pretty shells...

Now I'm off to wash the the sand out of my hair!

P.S. I have lots more to blog about but I will do it a little at a time!
