Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer's Day...

...thou art more lovely and more temperate.

Hey Everyone,

I hope you've all had a fantastic weekend! My fiance and I hurriedly planned a mini-break to Stratford-Upon-Avon and the cotswolds. It was a lovely weekend, the sun shone, and there were many things to do.

Maybe TOO many, it did feel very rushed, and we've just got home and I feel as if we barely stopped.

We spent Saturday in Stratford - and it just happened to be Shakespeare's birthday (well not really, it was the week before, but they'd pushed the celebrations back a week because of Easter). So, Stratford was very busy, but it was a great time to see the sights.

We visited his birthplace,

new place (the site of his old house), Hall's croft (the house of his daughter & her husband)...

The church where he is buried...

Anne Hathaway's cottage (his wife's childhood home)...

and Mary Arden's Farm (his mother).

In between all this we managed to fit in lunch and boating on the river Avon...

before heading to our pub hotel - where we had dinner, and which had a lovely view of the countryside...

Today, we spent the day between Stow-On-The-Wold & Bourton-On-The-Water in the Cotswolds. We wandered around the shops, sat by the stream and enjoyed ice cream and cream teas...

Even though we were very busy, I still found time to buy some crafty supplies...

Ribbon to make a felt union jack heart, buttons (some for a gift, some just because I liked them), a seam ripper (as I don't have one), some little bows (for anything I feel like) and thread for the union jack heart and felt Christmas decorations (I'm planning ahead).

I also had a good browse through the antique shops of Stow-on-the-Wold and finally found some silver sugar tongs for my tea set collection (not antique mind you but just what I was looking for!)

I also bought this fantastic tea planter - which I will plant with a small rose bush and hope it blooms to put on display at our 'afternoon tea' themed wedding next May!

I'm very sad to be back home so soon, and back to reality, but I hope you all had a fantastic weekend and that you've still got more to come tomorrow!

  4. What a lovely short break!
We were thinking of Stratford Upon Avon for a short break in the next half term - but we have already done Cotswolds to death! Are there any other nice places near Stratford do you think??
