What a sorry state...

Hi Everyone,

Well I don't have anything specific to blog about tonight, so I fear this may become a bit rambly, but here goes!

I have been having a bit of a bad time lately, which may seem silly with all my blogs about the nice things I am doing etc...

However, I have found that this blog is a bit of an escape for me. A welcome one, and I think a fairly healthy one, but at the same time it's easy to rose tint things to make my life and all the things I do seem better than they are.

I shouldn't complain, and I really will try not to! I am very lucky, I get to do a lot of things other people may not. But unfortunately I am not very happy with my life at the moment.

I am hoping that my interview on Monday (for a PHD place) will go well, and I will start an exciting and challenging new chapter of my life that will fulfil me. If it doesn't I may have to seriously rethink my plans especially in the immediate future as I very much dislike feeling so unhappy with the day to day drudge of life.

Sorry rant over now... Back to the rose tinted lovely-ness of blogging!

  3. I'm not sure I have anything constructive to say but I couldn't read and run. I hope that your interview goes well and you can begin to build a life for yourself that you are happy with. And please do come and rant away on here, I've found lots of wonderful support out in blogland x

  4. I hope you manage to get what you want and feel fulfilled once again. The PhD could be a new exciting chapter for you. Three of four years of your life dedicated to one PhD project will sometimes feel like forever and you will often feel like you're getting little reward for your hard work so make sure that you feel very passionate about the topic. An interview is not only about the university checking if they want you, it is also about you checking whether this seems to be the right place. Ask questions, speak to other postgraduate students there who will tell you whether they have been gien the right amount of support in that department. Good luck :-)

  6. I know what you mean, I sometimes look back over my blog and think "is this really my life?", it doesn't always seem such a lovely place when you are living it day in day out, and it is true you do tend to talk about the nice things for fear that people don't want to hear about the depressing side of things. Maybe we should be more honest, after all, our blogs should represent us as people. On another note it is nice to be able to edit our lives, which this does allow us to do. Hope you are feeling better soon and best of luck getting the interview, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Big virtual hugs xxx
